What state's license plate (past or present) "makes" a vanity plate (or a standard plate) on a cool car? If I saw a McLaren P1 with a North Dakota plate on it.....

The old Blue & Yellow and Black & Yellow California plates are pretty iconic. Although I seems every state had plates like these at one point or another so I'm not sure if they really count.

It's too new to be iconic, and it seems most people don't like the new NY plate, but I love it, especially on the P4/5 C:

There's an '80s Mercedes W126 diesel with a plate that reads "BRB LOL" on it at my office. I'll try to take a pic on Monday.

To us foreigners, this would have to be it. Because Hollywood.

I think Colorado's standard plates are really cool. They go back quite awhile and are simple, elegant, and tell the story: we have mountains.

I think these are awesome. They will definitely be classics in the future.

Since Dan likes his plate (which has been around for a long time)
I like mine. Just can't decide which one.

Oh, and I should mention that they don't need to be on a one-off exotic in order to look good:

Not only do I have one of these on my car, but this is one of the most ironic as we really don't have any Polar Bears here (in the NWT). Nunavut took them all with them when they split off. Still a sweet plate...

Also, not a state.

I've always liked the simple yellow. instantly recognizable. The turquoise can look really good on the right car, usually a classic. I'm a bit biased, but i think NM Nailed it.
